We've all seen the audi diesel commercial by now. Yes audi you're making diesels available in your line up...How uber hipster of you.
Dont get me wrong...I love a good turbo diesel. love.
I even remember when they teased the V12 TDI R8.
Ultimately this never went into production because they couldn't get the 6.0 Liter V12 TDI to fit in the chasis without massive modification.
But I say that's "Horse Radish"!
Why is that "Horse Radish"?
well because of this;
That's why.
The V10 TDI was a 5.0 Engine (Smaller than the current gas V10) with 310hp & 553 lb/ft of torque. The toureg v10 TDI weigh 6000 Lbs. The R8 V10 petrol curb weight is 3700 lbs.
An ECU tune on the V10 TDI gets you 360HP & 60o Lb/ft...With better turbos your looking at 420+ hp and 700lb/ft
So a V10TDI in a car less than 4000lbs with 4wd which would probably get close to 35 MPG and go 0-60 < 4 Seconds...
How do you build the Phaeton for $100K and not this?!?
